Anglican Diocese of Newcastle
"Striving to be a Bible teaching, caring and welcoming fellowship"
Parish Rector
Rev'd Captain Allan Bate commenced working in the parish in January 2005. Allan was born in 1964 and is married to Captain Mellita Bate. They both trained with and were commissioned by The Church Army in Australia, which is where they received their titles as Captain. Together they have a 6 year old daughter, Kathryn, and their second child is due in June.
Allan attended Caringbah Anglican Church all his life prior to training with the Church Army. Mellita hails from Cairns and came to faith at the age of 18. Allan and Mellita married in 1993 and moved to WA to work in the Diocese of North West Australia. From 1996 to 1999 Allan and Mellita worked in the Cathedral Parish of Geraldton prior to taking up the position of rector in the Parish of the Murchison, a BCA (Bush Church Aid) supported parish.
Allan and Mellita have both completed a Diploma of Theology in Evangelism through the Australian College of Theology. Allan has since completed a Bachelor of Divinity through the University of London.
Together Allan and Mellita have a passion to see people come to a saving faith in Christ and to grow in faith.
