Mr 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

Mt 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Most of us follow traditions of man rather than God's law. As I ponder the many traditions of man and pagan gods that we follow, I get a sickening feeling in my heart...like a sadness and sorrow to the point of crying. Here we have an almighty God who gave himself freely to us through the mighty works and suffering of His only begotten Son Jesus, that we might repent of our sins and seek to be Holy like Him. All he asks of us is to believe on His Son and keep His commandments which are not grievous. By reading through the Old Testament we see the nature of God and what pleases Him. He set in place 10 simple rules to follow should we desire to please Him and in turn receive glory. Of these 10 rules, 2 are constantly being broken, day in day out, by almost ALL inhabitants of earth, and these are...

1...Idols and graven images.  Ex 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

2...Keeping of the seventh day. Ex 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

How many wear a crucifix? How many wear a wedding ring? How may have a statue of Jesus or Mary?  How many have a fish sign on their car? How many have any ornament depicting Christ in any way...either on the shelf or hanging on the wall. How many go to a church with a steeple? And the list just goes on and on and on. You think I am being frivolous? Well don't blame me...I am just reminding you of what our Lord God says. These are all traditions of men.

Now regarding the Sabbath, lets first just clear up one matter that seems to confuse many, and that is Sunday sabbath. This day is called the "Lords day" and made the new Sabbath by the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) about 1600 years ago. It was named and instituted by the RCC...NOT BY GOD!  So this day belongs to the RCC as a pagan sun worshipping day kept by Constantine around 321 AD, and yet 99% of Christians want to make it Gods day. By what authority have you done this? Is there a prophet among you that can say " So saith the Lord...from now on the FIRST day will be the Sabbath...not the LAST day...sorry for the inconvenience. I am your God and I have spoken". No? Well for now then at least, it remains the same, and until heaven and earth pass away, it will ALWAYS remain the same. And don't blame me, i am just reminding you of what the bible says about it.

It is so strange to me that almost all denominations of the world keep a whole bunch of days special to their beliefs (not Gods), and cannot keep just one day that God set aside for a sign as a believer for all time. They can keep the traditions of man...but not the tradition of God. How deep is their love I ask. Celebrating Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Anzac day, labour day, mothers day, fathers day, birthdays, cup day, show day, independents day, and the list goes on and on and on. I wonder why we all keep these days? Could it be that we have so much fun on these days? And God's day is a little boring to say the least isn't it?  Anyway, God knows I am thinking of Him seven days a week, so He will understand...right? Say what? Are you telling God He HAS to do what you want? Lord have mercy!

We are living in a world where personal time and space is so hard to find (more so now that ever before), and yet all I hear is "I worship God seven days a week". Like yeah sure mate. While you are at work you are worshipping God? While you are at home entertaining the wife and kids you are worshipping God? While you are at a game cheering on your team, you are worshipping God? While you watch television you are worshipping God? While you chat all day on the internet, you are worshipping God? Driving down the highway, you are worshipping God? Oh Father God, please give me this special power that these people have that allows them to do two things at once, because dear Father, when I worship you in any way, I can think of nothing else. Isn't it interesting that with time rushing by at breakneck speed, we can still find the time to celebrate the traditional days of men, but not of our creator.

Below is a document I found on another site, but found it to be interesting, so I got his permission to put here also. To visit his site, follow this link. Simple truth Ministries

TITLE: Traditions Vs God's Will  (FULLER VERSION)

Throughout  the world, many fine churches filled with God called preachers are breaking away from traditions of normal religion. Others however seem to have no conscious knowledge of such practices. The third and last group don't want to break away from traditions. Traditions are imposed to relieve anyone from growth.

If any attempt were to be made to be free from traditions, we must first know what is of God and what is of man's attempts in making God happy.  That is to say; "What is God expecting from us?" Knowing God is to please Him, to please Him is to see His love in operation. Too many dead churches give lip service without a single miracle from Him. Much of this could be because of a 'stuck nettle' teaching or lack of faith or even traditions of men with little to no correction as the false will promise what God will do sometime later. This sounds like the old messages many churches taught of how you will be healed when you get to heaven.  Laugh Out Loud.....  That would be dumb as this makes God weak and a promise breaker.  Oh boy, maybe some of you remember those types of messages just a few years back.

Today of course, most of you know the most high God is a God of now. A God of now?  Yes and no.  "Yes" His promises are for now but "No" because we have and entire array of limitations opposing God.  This depends on variable beyond the scope of this single document.  Delays in God moving can depend on many things at the fault of the one praying.  Look more on this site for such items aimed at this.  <TRY "PRAYER AND LOOSE LEAF NOTES" LINK>

Back to traditions...  Do you know traditions of men keep God from showing Himself. Why? Because God cannot or will not show approval to any just using His name without trust in their hearts.  This is one reason revival must end after a season.  We would be in revival without end if steady growth was in operation of God's people. The year of 1999 was a prime year to see how many rushed to be first but were put last in the eyes of God.  Due to this overactive behaviour, God had to extinguish that season so not to support such an unstable disarray.  In simple terms:  God will not pour out His spirit when many were worried about selfish blessing gatherings from His hand.  A.K.A.  Greedy Seekers.  Very naughty.

Traditions are formed not only by the prince of darkness but by imaginary doctrine of many having no clue of the character of God. Pushy men or woman demanding control over others run for political church office and find themselves as elected in by people to stand behind a puppet to feed the 'Easy Way Out' messages.  This type of political office church election is responsible for letting in homosexuals too.  Well, you get what you deserve.  Elect in those you want will eject God from bringing in the ones He calls.  No wonder many churches are so sub-divided and dead as a hammer.  There is only One church, His.  Never man's.  Yet again this is another page on this site.  See the main menu to any relative of this topic.

An entire list could be added in here: Pagan Christmas Trees, Easter eggs as connected to a pagan fertility rite, and much more.  Even New Years Day is one.. New Year's Day tradition preaching is one where the congregation is promised a fresh new year of renewal with less problems to deal with. Trouble is, God does not work from man's calendar. God has His own time table to work from.  Nor would this be in a grouping as promised.  That would be a revival.  Single lives are touched throughout the world in all seasons.  That is; each person has a specific levels of faith, grace and needs within God which bring supernatural results within a personalized season.  Due Seasons is another subject on this site.  See that main menu..

Most of the traditions are so overlooked, they are invisible to religious folks stuck in a drill of week by week church attendance. One example would be connected to general prayer. In question form we could ask:

"In prayer, is it of scripture or tradition for eyes to be closed and heads to be bowed?"

Of course you and I know its really tradition created totally by man in attempt to being humble. No where in scripture did Jesus, Paul, Matthew, Mark, Luke John or any major or minor prophet say we must be in a special posture for our prayers to be heard. The only exception would be on one's knees where true showing of being humble is displayed. Wow, so really we don't have to bow our heads and close our eyes. So you see, its an odd thing how many denominations will fight over major issues but adopt such a standard of traditional practice having NOTHING to do with God.  Let it be known, there is nothing wrong with the standard prayer position as to bow your head and close your eyes.  Its just not needed to amplify prayers.  Oh yeah, lets not forget the traditional 'clasping of hands'.  Another practice still used by some.

Did you know that 'Denominations' are of tradition? Well, they are.... Pentecostal for example was a season of time as listed in the book of Acts. Never was it meant to be a belief system.   While it true the folks promoting a Pentecostal standing seem to have God more alive than past view of other denominations.  Some get too caught up things like forcing tongues to be spoken on cue when this can only be triggered by the Holy Spirit. Otherwise its just babble.  Please be assured this is NOT picking on Pentecostal people as a singled out denomination.  This is just a sample.  After all, this is only one perfect way.  God's way.

Back to the point, God has a time table of seasons within He shows Himself. This again points to the 'New Year, New Hope' messages spoken of above. Tradition wants God on a leash because a controlled God is source of treasure, not a corrective and loving God as He is. If God is not corrective then God is of man's personal desire.  If this is true, we are all doomed to hell.

If you become offended by denouncing denominational marks then we have to check this out.

Was Jesus denominational?  No, of course not.

Now we have to ask if He was not biased to any affixed Earthly doctrine, how can we be?  Jesus had only one set of instructions... His Father's will being done.  If fact, Jesus spent much time in dispelling man's interference as prescribed by Pharisees and overbearing religious successes.  Those types of traditional spin-doctors are still at it today.  Are you going to let them condemn you to hell?  Sorry if you got your toes stepped on but truth is truth despite personal attraction or any repelling interactions.  If you want to see why God  HATES denominations.  See this link <INSERT LINK HERE>

Of course you don't have to explore how traditions came forth.  Unless you expect to be in debate with someone over them.  As far as personal service to God, spend your time on what is valid to His approval.  Then you will not be in wondering why prayers are weaker and take longer to be answered.

Another missed fact about traditions is how they carry in New Age Cult type activity into Christianity.  This site has docs on that too.  Odd things like putting a 4 leaf clover in a bible for extra blessings.  You may laugh, yet it has been found true by this writer.  Now you can understand traditions are also connected to superstitions but that's another document on this website.  <INSERT LINK HERE>

More will be added to this document when posted on web server. All BIBLE VERSES about traditions and how God turns His attention away from those that do them.  In some cases, God strikes down correction on them.
