from Bloomsbury...

Grace and Tippi are twins – conjoined twins.

And their lives are about to change.

No longer able to afford homeschooling, they must venture into the world – a world of stares, sneers and cruelty. Will they find more than that at school? Can they find real friends? And what about love?

But what neither Grace or Tippi realises is that a heart-wrenching decision lies ahead. A decision that could tear them apart. One that will change their lives even more than they ever imagined…

From Carnegie Medal shortlisted author Sarah Crossan, this moving and beautifully crafted novel about identity, sisterhood and love ultimately asks one question: what does it mean to want and have a soulmate?

One is a powerful and extremely moving novel. Emotionally charged, poignant and insightful, with beautifully written prose, it’s truly remarkable how much it achieves in so little words. The story centres on the lives of two conjoined twins, individuals yet completely in sync with one another. Tippi and Grace have always shared everything. For them it’s normal to step into the same skirt, to fall asleep beside each other, to be stared at, to be thought monsters. They have two heads, two hearts, two brains and each has two arms but at the hip they join. They’re happy, not wanting to risk surgery and being separated from the only thing they’ve ever known. But the twins’ body is beginning to fight them. Soon they will have to face the choice they’ve avoided their whole lives.

One tackles some challenging issues that I feel younger children wouldn’t be able to connect with. I’d recommend it for teens and children aged 12 and over.
