PROPOSED ITINERARY FOR PERTH

 

Perth, the capital city of the State, is home to about 1.5 million people and enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other capital city in Australia. Sophisticated yet uncomplicated, the lifestyle in Western Australia is a relaxed one. It is recommended that you look up the Internet at www.westernaustralia.net for the various activities that you can enjoy on a holiday in Perth.

 

Speak to your Representative on arrival, or check up with them beforehand. You may be able to arrange for a local guide to bring you around Perth, at economical costs, visiting places that most tourists may not have the opportunity to see.  

 

The following are 'whole day' tours except where otherwise indicated. Select and pick your choice to form an itinerary and enjoy Perth, the Capital City of Western Australia, famous for its natural beauty and exciting land marks.

 

Tour 1: Rottnest Island: Take a ferry from Hillarys Boat Harbour (Ferry Departure: 0830H and it takes 45 minutes cruise to Rottnest Island). At Rottnest Island, you will get to see a series of fine beaches, secluded coves, headlands, some cliffs and natural moorings which make it one of nature's natural holiday resorts. Take a bus to tour around the island. On your return trip to Hillarys Boat Harbour, visit the Sorrento Quay, one of the many boardwalk shops, and simply relax, have a coffee and enjoy the atmosphere there. How to get to Hillarys Boat Harbour: Travel by Reid Hwy, to Wanneroo Rd to Hepburn Avenue exit.

 

Tour 2: Adventure World - A 'Disneyland' style of amusement. A must for the family otherwise, you have not visited Perth! A family pass is normally cheaper. Included are free and unlimited rides, animals for you to feed, water activities, racing karts, boat paddling, castles - too many to name!. Visit Bibra Lake at the same time, to feed the swans and wild birds. Adventure World is closed in winter, otherwise, it is opened for most of the year. How to get to Adventure World: It takes about 1 hour from Ballajura to reach this amusement wonder. Ask the Representative for more details.

 

Tour 3: Pinnacles Tour, 4WD SAFARI Coach - Beautiful scenery and activities on the way. At Pinnacles desert, you can see a large area of limestone formations rearing up into the sky like giant needles, snowwhite beach to Wedge Island, huge white sand dunes. Booking may be made through Western Geographic Tel. 9336 4992 (est. cost: AUD $120 per adult, half prices for children). Pack lunch included. The Representative may be able to assist you.

 

Tour 4: Perth City Tour- Coastal Scenic Drive, City Beach, Kings Park and its view of Perth City, City Shopping, Burswood Casino. Walk the ‘hanging tree-top’ bridge while at King’s Park.  (Note: Late night shopping until 9pm is on Friday in the city precinct). Booking details may be acquired through the Representative.  

 

Tour 5: Caversham Wildlife Park and vineyards – Located within Whiteman Park with its history and museums.  Meet all animals and hand feed kangaroos, emus, wombats, koalas and many others. Next proceed to Swan Valley where you can taste some of Australia best wines. Visit the Midland Gates Shopping Mall and vineyards too on the same day. Guided tours may be arranged with the Representative at reasonable costs, minimum 2 people.

 

Tour 6: Shopping Extravaganza – If you like to shop, visit the large Galleria Shopping Centre at nearby Morley or Mirrabooka Shopping Centre. You will be amazed and a day may not be enough as there is so much on offer!  On the way back, visit Malaga Tourist Markets.

 

Tour 7: Fremantle Markets and History Trail - Visit the Fremantle Market (opens Fri, Sat, Sun only), one of the oldest market in this part of the world. On the way, visit the Fremantle Prison and other historical sites in Fremantle. Enjoy a fresh sea food meal at Kailis and smell the fresh sea breeze at the harbour. Guided tours may be arranged with the Representative at reasonable costs, minimum 2 people.

 

Tour 8: Bird Lovers and Nature Trail - Visit Neil Hawkins Park (Boas St) on a day trip to Joondalup.  Feed the different varieties of parrots and other birds that will fly and feed off your hand. Bird seeds can be bought on site. See the wild ducks and swans. Have a picnic there - bring some food and drinks along. On the way back, visit the Wanneroo markets (Sat, Sun only) and the Joondalup Shopping Mall.  You can make cost effective arrangements through the Representative.

 

Tour 9: Wave Rock and York – Enjoy the sights of rocky wave formation, hippo's yawn and Mulka's cave. On the way there, visit York, a quaint old town with lots of history. Walk the swinging bridge while in York. To make this in one day, you need to start early and return late. Book your own or seek advice from your Representative.

 

Tour 10: Albany (recommends an overnight stay in Albany) – Listen to the Blow Holes and visit the Whale Museum, Natural Bridge, The Gap, Stony Hill, scenic lookouts, natural rock formation, unique flora, and lighthouses.  The fierce ocean waves and deep blue waters will fascinate you. Stay at a caravan park on-site van overnight to experience outdoor living before returning to your bungalow. Do your own cooking at the caravan park. Book your own or seek advice from your Representative.

 

Tour 11: Penguin Island and Rockingham - Tour Penguin Islands and see the fairy penguins. Ferry leaves daily early in the morning and returns afternoon. On the way there, enjoy coastal sceneries and visit the Rockingham City shopping mall. If you are lucky, you can do some whale watching from the shore along the coastal areas. Book your own or seek advice from your Representative.

 

Tour 12: Koalas, Caves and Lakes - Explore Yanchep National Park, offering boat excursions, cave tours, nature trail etc. Watch the Koalas in the Koala sanctuary. Take an excursion by boat around the beautiful lakes, followed by a tour of the underground Yanchep Caves.  Pack your lunch for a picnic at the picnic areas.

 

Tour 13: Moore River Estuary – Take a trip to this picturesque estuary (Edward St Guilderton) with its spectacular sceneries and sandbars.  There are gas barbeque pits free for use, a walk trail to the hill top to look out to sea, and fishing too!!  Watch the waves pound the shores when the sea is rough. Take a river cruise on the ferry.

 

Tour 14: Black Swans and Wild Birds (Half day) – Take a look at nature at Monger Lake and have a family picnic there.  Feed the black swans, wild ducks and other wild birds while you are there (they like bread crumbs!).  Walk around the lakes and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

 

Tour 15: Penguin Island and Sea Lion Cruise – Take a ‘walk on the wild side’ at Penguin Island.  The ferry boarding point is at Rockingham, Safety Bay Road, about an hour’s drive from Perth.  Suggest that you take the first ferry trip at about 9 a.m.  The cruise takes you to a few islands, where you can see sea lions resting by the sea side, cormorants on an island peak, the nesting grounds of the pelicans and fairy penguins in its natural habitat.  Penguin island itself has good beaches with cool clear waters.  You need to see it to believe how beautiful the place is.  For more details, see http://www.penguinisland.com.au/.

 

Tour 16: Emu Lakeshore and Nature Walk – Entrance to Emu Lake is at Lakeshore Close, Ballajura near your holiday rental.  Turn left at the T-junction then walk down the path beside the large park along the lake shore. Enjoy your relaxing stroll around Emu Lake.  Watch the wildlife as you stroll to Paradise Quay, where you can enjoy a beer or try the wonderful pizzas / fish and chips.   Then continue around the lake till you get back to your start point. Or go straight to Paradise Quay, and have a barbeque there while the kids play at the playground.  A gas fire barbeque facility is provided by the town council free of charge.  Taps for washing also available, and you can also buy food or eat at the Summerlakes Shopping Centre across the road.
