“Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann” is an international organization set up to encourage the recognition and growth of our Irish culture in music, song, dance and the spoken word. The name translates to “Society or Gathering of Irish Musicians”. It is quite often referred to “Comhaltas” or “CCE” and is pronounced “Coal-tis Kyol-tori Air-in”. Comhaltas was formed by a group of traditional music enthusiasts in Mullingar in 1951 but now 50 years later there are more than 400 branches worldwide. CCE headquarters is based in Dublin, Ireland.
