Introduction - In February 1967, I was stationed at H.M.A.S. Kuttabul (G.I.C. Photographic Section), Sydney, NSW. I was 23 years of age and I had been in the Royal Australian Navy for just over 6 years. In late February I was advised that I would be joining the crew of H.M.A.S Hobart as the ship's photographer. The ship was due to depart Sydney for the Vietnam War in early March.
