There's nothing like the summer xmas break in Woy Woy - we don't have to go
anywhere as we have the world's finest beaches and scenery , so I've been
bumming about on Google Earth
and like most thing I get into I go overboard ....... While checking out the Hawksbury river I spotted a plane in flight which
evidently is a pretty cool thing at the Google Earth Community Forums , so I
posted my find and it's now in the official GE database of planes in the air !
Also I have been reading C. Swancott's books on the local area " Good Old Woy
Woy " and " The Brisbane Water Story " parts 1 and 2. If you ever can lay your
hands on these books they are well worth the read and I will publish some good
bits from them in the Woy Woy Files soon , as well as that while I had Google
Earth open and reading I pinpointed many interesting landmarks , buildings etc
into my favourites and you will be able to download them from this site soon in
the way of a kmz. file which will load all the info into your GE browser.
As well as that I also overlayed all the old housing estates and large land
parcels into GE using my stock of photos of old Parish maps , you will be able
to see on a modern map of the Peninsula what old estate you may live in , some
had fancy names like the Golden Crown Estate , The Santa Claus Estate so check
in the new year for the links to download the files

Local Church gets last laugh
Recently the new church on Blackwall Road was opened and the new set of
bells were brought into action for the first time. For years the
local parish saved up and purchased the mammoth set of 3 bells that
first roared out over the Peninsula just before Christmas.
The beaming Reverend John Hill was quoted as saying " These bells
kick arse ! for years my poorparish has been bombarded in
their homes by the local heathen population playing Black Sabbath
and Megadeath at ungodly hours , but come Sunday there will be final
atonement as these babies kick in ! " Obviously the bretheren haddone their research as the
pastor detailed... " We had the bells cast overseas in the same factory as the
bells used by AC/DC on the Hells Bells Tour and Sister Mavis was
trained to use the state of the art computer controlled bell ringing
software that drives the 3 bells we have nicknamed
" Big Bopper " " left scrote " and " right scrote " !
* Actually the sound of
those bells ringing over the Peninsula for the first time was pretty
awesome , I just got carried away with this funny story sorry lol ,
forgive me !
The Lemming Effect - Frangipani stickers on cars I'm not quite how and why the Frangipani sticker epidemic started , but here
let's try to analyse this silliness. I first noticed this phenomena about 2
years ago and since then it has shown no signs of waning, firstly I asked a
young person what it all meant , because despite being 42 , I have left the area
of cultural awareness years ago, through no fault of my own. My younger
informant explained to me that yes it was quite popular and that the actual
arrangement and size of the flowers also had a hidden meaning......shock ! are
the sheep thinking ? Yes , evidently a large flower will denote a partner and the smaller flowers
represent each child in a family, or if single the flowers represent
each lover they have had( which explains why some cars look like the
rear window has been shot by a frangipani machine gun ) I then asked the actual car owners about the stickers meaning and got these
responses: Lemming 1: " because they look cool "
Lemming 2: " because everyone else has them " This answer began to repeat itself as I asked more folk in the car park at
Kmart , so I concluded my research for the day( actually Security asked
me to leave because they got freaked a guy in army pants was taking photos of
cars in the carpark ! ) So there you go now you are armed with the knowledge that your not missing
much in the latest car craze , if fact you may be showing signs of superior
intelligence if you don't join the stampede err rush over that cliff .....
In fact I'm not the only one annoyed some people have formed whole
organisations to eradicate the plague ( see below )
