SPRAGGON BENNETT BRABYN
LAWYERS, DONT YOU JUST HATE THEM?!!!
Many people certainly do. But rather than
sit around moaning, we set about changing the system from within.
Rumours of corruption and intrigue in the
music industry are not just paranoid urban myths, and artists deals forged
without legal advice form the basis of most of the horror stories in this
business. It’s a jungle out there, and you need more than just high ideals and
good intentions to scythe your way through it.
With 24 years of music law experience
between the three of us we knew just how critical lawyers are to the
trouble-free fulfilment of an artist’s vision, so we decided to set up a firm
to make a difference.
Being a music lawyer is the closest you can
get to not being a lawyer. We don’t simply read the fineprint, we can also
introduce you to the people who will give you management, publishing and record
deals, not to mention suggesting and setting up appropriate creative
collaborations.
We represent artists, producers, managers,
DJ’s, small labels and specialist publishers – from a position of total
independence, with no conflicts of interest, no covert nominally-disguised
links to major record companies or publishers. We only ever advise our clients
to the very best of their own interests, even when that means ruffling
feathers.
We don’t like suits and we don’t wear them.
But neither are we going to patronise you with chill-out rooms and coke
dispensers. Our only priority is to see you safely through the maze that is
today’s music business. And that means doing away with the bull. If you’re
planning to exploit your future success to abuse all around you with diva-like
demands, don’t come to us.
We all want to succeed at what we’re doing,
and to make money, but we never broker deals based on financial figures alone,
having witnessed too many times how badly cashed tunnel-vision can backfire in
this business. It really isn’t just about the money. That’s why we don’t
work on a percentage basis. We will broker the right deal for you, for the
right reasons.
But don’t think for a second we don’t mean
business. Set up two years ago, our partnership has a track record of success
that speaks for itself. World-beating acts like The Prodigy and Ash, musical
legends like the Buzzcocks and Maceo Parker and underground dance talent like
The Ballistic Brothers, The Source and Natural Born Chillers are just some of
our satisfied clients. They may find law duller than a British November, but
they all know that you really want it on your side.
We’ll help you get the right start in this
business, take care of the legal structure of your career and promote your
interests, so that you can concentrate on the art that inspired you to get
involved in the first place.
So, if you’re serious about your art, do
yourself a favour and contact
