FENELLA BRABYN
Who dun-it - ask the experts Murder Mystery Dinner.
As a departure from their usual more formal, City-based,
fund-raising activities, The Guild of Security Professionals organised a comedy
thriller ‘Murder Mystery’ dinner and dance evening at the Rembrandt Hotel,
Knightsbridge in February.
More than 140 members and their guests supported this very
funny and entertaining evening, organised by Peter French, and assisted by Paul
Holmes. The “who dun-it” scenario was hammed up to great effect by the professional
cast of actors, roaming among the audience and dragging unsuspecting members
into the plot at every opportunity.
Despite many distractions and attempts to throw everyone off
course, Stuart Lowden of Wilson James and his table of guests correctly identified
the villain and were awarded the ‘dubious’ honour of “top table” for the
evening. Although the evening was attended by some experienced ex-senior CID
officers, and Stuart’s table had a number of security professionals, the accolade
for cracking the case goes to Fenella Brabyn, of Profectus, a facilities
management company. Also on Stuart’s table were Keith and Jo Bentley (Oracle
Corporation), Dennis and Donna Ahern (Tate Modern), Simon and Jos Curtis, and
Allison Fraser and Ron Dickin (Wilson James).
“It was a thoroughly cracking evening,” said Stuart
afterwards, “great fun.” Following the performance, the lights went down and
the room was transformed into a nightclub complete with DJ, resulting in
members and guests dancing into the early hours of Sunday morning. Great fun
was indeed had by all who attended, with many requests for more such informal
social evenings.
As with all the Guild Charity Fund Raising evenings, the
members and their guests were tremendous in their response to the raffle and
auction and the evening raised a total of about £6,000 towards the Charitable
Trust. The organisers expressed their gratitude to Pinkerton Consulting &
Investigations – and to Guild member David Reece, and John Batten, Director of
Investigations at Pinkerton, who supported and financed this function.
