This site is to document the build and conversion of a 1956 two door Morris Minor saloon into a modern, fuel injected engined, convertible. The plan is to create a reliable fun car for my wife to use as a daily driver. Modifications includes a convertible conversion, fitting a Toyota twin cam EFI engine, 5 speed manual gearbox, uprated toyota differential, power steering, air conditioning, four wheel disc brakes, and a digital dash. The car was found on a farm on the Atherton Tablelands in a chook shed, and apart from the ridiculus bonnet scoops the car was in quite good condition. The chooks had been enjoying the car for about ten years by the last rego label. Again it was a case of someones project that never got finished and was relegated to the back shed. The car was mostly complete, no bumpers, electrics ,chrome work or interior trim(except seats). The engine and gearbox were out of the car. The previous owner had stripped the engine bay back to bare metal but never bothered to repaint it, so my first chore was to clean up the metal and temporarily paint it with kill rust to preserve it for now. As I said the car is in pretty good shape rust wise, There is rust in the lower door pillars both sides and the adjoining metal in the wheel arches and in the boot where a tow bar was fitted. New sections will be welded in to repair these. Hopefully there won't be any more rust found in the body.
