Origins History Compromises Granite Rock Photos Home

The Future

As a layout, Granite Rock is more or less complete. I’m not likely to be able to work on any larger layout for some years, so future modelling is likely to be on details, unless I can commit myself to converting it into a layout which will allow some continuous running.

The loco fleet does need to be rationalised and to look less like the opportunistic collection of repainted models which it actually is, and more like a result of a sensible motive power policy. I’m likely to keep the Alcos, and the GEs, but I really must think again about having a Fairbanks Morse switcher and a BL2 on the roster! One project I would like to do is to give my GE dash 8 a Pilbara cab which would seem like a logical thing for the Brindabella Railway to have bought. Finally, I will probably consider adding to the roster some of the Australian models now available, certainly a Brindabella Railway version of the 44 class would fit into the theme.

I also want to thinking about refining the history of the Railway, which is likely to see more time spent researching, and thinking and dreaming of a “might have been” railway. I am also interested in using the PC to create something of a “virtual” railway, combining small dioramas with photography to generate digital scenes of parts of the Brindabella Railway I have no real hope of ever modelling in reality. If I get around to doing this, you will find them first at this site!
