We all have favourite sites, ones that we find useful, creative, stimulating, or just plain nice. I am no exception, and I present here some of the sites which I use occasionally, grouped around the themes presented in the rest of this site. Presence here should not be seen as any form of endorsement by me - I just like 'em and/or use 'em!

Please let me know if you have a site you would like added here, and please feel free to link to my site.

Magazines and other resources for Australian N Scale Modelling

Aust-N-Scale Magazine: A quarterly newsletter catering exclusively for the Australian N Scale modeller. An essential tool for those of us who choose what may otherwise be the very lonely pursuit of Australian N scale modelling.

N Scale Page: Produced by Graham Cocks, the man who brings you Aust-N-Scale Magazine, this is the most comprehensive resource for Australian N scale modellers. There are links to prototype and club pages, photos, dealers, technical information, manufacturers and more!

N Scale In Australia: Another site by Graham Cocks. On this one you will find N highlights, coming events, various prototypes modelling directory, modeller sites, some award-winning exhibition layouts, information about the 2007 National N Scale Convention and links to publications and resource websites in Australia. This is another extremely valuable resource for the Australian N Scale modeller.

Australian Model Railway Magazine: Perhaps the single most important driving force of Australian modelling, with occasional N scale articles and reviews.

N Scale Manufacturers and Suppliers for the Australian Modeller

N-Trains: The company that really started it all! Beautifully engineered injected moulded kits for the NSW modeller that are a delight to assemble. More recently, N-Trains have taken over production and distribution of Aust-N-Rail kits. The site is very nice too!

Aust-N-Rail: Had a large range of rolling stock from WA, SA, Victoria and NSW. No longer active, but fortunately the range is now available through N-Trains.

Weico Models: For a long time the only way to buy anything Australian was to buy a Weico kit. No longer in production, but you might still pick up a kit from some shops.

Model Railroad Craftsman: A mail order supplier, with some Australian N Scale.

Fictitious Australian Railways
Fictitious railways with a well researched basis seem quite rare in an Australian context. Here are a couple of sites worth looking at.

Dutton Bay Tramway: The Dutton Bay Tramway is a freelanced HO scale 2'6" gauge railway set in South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. A very comprehensive site covering all manner of information about this railway.

Bega Valley Railway: Another private mainline railway, this one being a bridge link between the NSW system at Nowra and the Victorian system at Orbost. The model is in HO scale.

General Railway Interest

Railpage Australia: A huge resource with links to many Australian related websites: prototype, models, manufacturers - it's all here.

Queensland Railways

QRIG: A new, very well done and rapidly growing site covering all aspects of the QR system.

Tasmanian Railways

TasTrain: A site with links to many interesting things about the Tasmanian system. A tremendous resource about Australia's railway paradise. It is also a model for what a good web site should be like - highly informative, well written, logical and easy to navigate. Don't believe me? Then have a look!
