The Merchant of Fairness Bookshops were founded in Melbourne, Australia, about 20 years ago. The proprietor, Roderick Cameron, has established an enviable record of integrity within the book-selling fraternity in Australia. From small beginnings as an individual book searcher, Rod established his first permanent location at the South Melbourne Market, an outlet which, though much larger these days, still exists and remains an integral part of the Merchant of Fairness Bookshop operation.

Over the years The Merchant of Fairness has developed close working relationships with virtually all book dealers of significance in the Country, together with a number from overseas. More importantly, The Merchant of Fairness has a client base which extends all around the globe. This has been achieved without the internet, by simple word of mouth, but now, at the turn of the Millennium, Rod has decided to expand his flourishing business into the world of the internet. Collectors and people simply seeking an elusive title may, through this on-line facility, enquire as to the availability of any title, no matter how rare or difficult to find it may be.

Rod is particularly proud of the Merchant of Fairness Request System performance. Thousands of books have been requested and found over recent years, much to the delight of Merchant of Fairness customers. We perform this searching at no cost to our clients nor is any obligation implied to take the particular book when found.

All we ask is that if the customer no longer requires the requested book for whatever reason, then he or she has the courtesy to let us know. A simple email will suffice. This will enable us to remove the customer's request from our system and thus allow the next person on the list the opportunity to acquire the book.
