There are two scripts that I have written that you won't see performed
on a movie screen. You won’t see them on television either. They
are for a completely different sort of screen—a giant 16 metre
screen that’s round not oblong, and dome shaped not flat. To watch
them, you lay back in reclining seats and look at the ceiling! They
are both shows for planetariums.
Cosmic Couriers

As
the Melbourne Planetarium is the only digital planetarium in the Southern
Hemisphere, they can’t show any Planetarium shows made in the
Northern Hemisphere because the stars are all the wrong way up! The
Melbourne Planetarium team therefore produces all their own shows. I
was fortunate enough to work with them and write the script for one
of their productions. It's called Cosmic Couriers.
The Universe is a huge place! Cosmic Couriers is all about
learning where your place in space is. Join Mia as she visits the Cosmic
Couriers head office and discovers just how big the Universe really
is and exactly where her place in space is (or her Grandma’s at
least!). Well-known Australian actors Magda Szubanski and Kim Gyngell
provide the voices for Mia and the other main character, Zibal, Cosmic
Courier’ Chief Sorter and Troubleshooter.
If you live in Melbourne, or you’re visiting, why not put the
Melbourne Planetarium on your list of places to go? Cosmic Couriers
is aimed at children aged 7–12. It’s perfect for school
groups, but can be enjoyed by the whole family. For session times visit
the Planetarium
website.

Secret of the Dragon
Another script I have written for a planetarium production is called
Secret of the Dragon.
This is a magical story about two children who are taken on a dragon
ride to explore the mysteries of the universe. From their perch on the
back of a dragon, the children learn about the universe...and a bit
about themselves in the process. It is recommended for children between
the age of five and eight years, but is entertaining for the whole family.
It is currently being screened at the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium
in Brisbane. For screening times visit the Brisbane
Planetarium website.
Secret of the Dragon is also showing in the planetarium on
the luxury liner Queen Mary 2.
