Options
The Options menu allows you
to configure the program as required.
Startup Options
Here we can set options
for automated startup of the program. These are used when we wish to automatically
start monitoring or recording of conversations when the computer starts up.
To enable automated startup, select the "Enable Automatic Startup"
option and then select the startup mode. The startup modes are described below:
- Stealth Mode - selecting
this option causes the program to 'hide' and start recording conversations
to the file specified under the Capture options
- Capture using Capture
Options - the program will either start monitoring or recording, depending
on the Capture options
- Paused - the program
will start with the capture screen showing, waiting for your input
Under Password Options you
can enable a startup password. This password will be requested whenever the
program is started manually.
Capture Options
The 'Monitor, Record or
Both' radio buttons allow you to specify the operation of the program during
capture. The 'Monitor and Record' option is not recommended for older systems
due to the processing required. Although this has been tested on a Pentium 166,
it is best to try it to see how it performs on your system. The 'Recording File
Details' radio buttons are described as follows:
- Use Current Date as filename
- the recording filename is automatically specified as the current date and
changes each day
- Use Recording File as
filename - the recording filename is specified in the 'Recording File' box
below. Note you may need to change the 'Recording Folder' also if you do not
want the file to be stored in the default location of 'C:'
Report/Monitor Options
Here we can select several
options to tailor the details shown in reports and monitored sessions:
- Message Display options
- The default setting is to display messages (i.e. conversations). The other
settings are only useful if you need to see the underlying protocol of MSN.
Selecting the 'raw protocol' options can generate a large amount of on-screen
information.
- Show IP Address - displays
the 'IP Address' of each sender and reciever
- Show short chat names
- the names that some people use can be quite long. Using this option strips
off anything following the '@' symbol in the name to make reports easier to
read.
