ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Diana lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with her husband and three children and works on finishing the "Outlander" series.

Many readers say that it was word of mouth that introduced them to Diana Gabaldon and her hero and heroine, Jamie and Claire, and that might be true but there's no mistaking her outstanding success now.

I believe that anyone who loves a good story and reads the "Outlander" series, will love it as much as I do.

.............a small circle, standing stones on the crest of a steep green hill. The name of the hill is Craigh na Dun; the fairies' hill. Some say the hill is enchanted, others say it is cursed. Both are right. But no one knows the function or the purpose of the stones.

Except Claire Beachamp Randall Fraser........

Millions of people around the world have fallen in love with Diana Gabaldon's critically acclaimed series of novels CROSS STITCH (in USA is titled Outlander), DRAGONFLY IN AMBER, VOYAGER and DRUMS OF AUTUMN as she has unfolded her compelling story of Claire Randall who accidentally stepped through a magical stone that took her back in time two hundred years to 1743 and into the arms of Jamie Fraser.

Her readers have been absolutely enthralled with this epic saga of time travel, adventure and love everlasting and eagerly await her works in progress as the saga continues with THE FIERY CROSS and KING, FAREWELL.

Diana has recently released a Comprehensive Companian Guide to Her Novels - THROUGH THE STONES, which presents the full story behind the stories.

CROSS STITCH

A lively time- travel romance set in 18th-century Scotland.

At the end of World War II Claire Beauchamp Randall, a British Red Cross nurse and her historian husband, Frank, have gone to Scotland to try to resume their married life where it left off six years before.

Their diligent attempts to have a baby are abruptly halted when Claire discovers an ancient stone circle on a nearby hilltop, slips between two mysterious- looking boulders, and is transported to the year 1743. Stumbling down a hillside, disoriented and confused, Claire is discovered by Jonathan ``Black Jack'' Randall, an evil English officer who happens to be her husband's direct ancestor bearing a striking resemblance to him. Randall notes Claire's revealing 1940's summer dress, assumes she is a whore, and attempts to rape her, whereupon she is rescued by the fierce MacKenzie clan, who take her to their castle and confine her there. Claire adjusts to her changed circumstances with amazing ease, using her nursing experience to tend to her hosts' illnesses while she impatiently awaits a chance to return to the circle of stones.

Before she can get away, circumstances force her into a marriage with James Fraser, a Scottish renegade from English justice and Jonathan Randall's archenemy. Young Jamie's good looks, passion, and virility soon redirect Claire's energies to defending her stalwart new husband against her former mate's evil clone, and the fierce, courageous but historically doomed Scottish clans against the course of destiny itself.

Great fun .....enthralling and fantastic adventures, romance, sex ........perfect escape reading!

DRAGONFLY IN AMBER

The second in this series.........

For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland's majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones ...about a love that transcends the boundaries of time ...and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his ....

Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire's spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart ...in a race to thwart a doomed Highlands uprising ...and in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves....

VOYAGER

Two centuries ago, the gallant renegade Jamie Fraser sent Claire back to her own time, pregnant with his child, believing he would be killed in the bloody Battle of Culloden in 1746.

ClaireClaire makes a new life for herself, training to become a doctor and raising her daughter Brianna. But the passage of two decades does little to dim the memory of Jamie or the life they once shared; and the constant presence of Brianna, with her father's brilliant red hair and well-loved features, is a painful reminder of the past.

Now their daughter has grown up and Claire discovers that Jamie survived Culloden. Dare she risk another trip through the stones, a trip that could prove fatal? Will she even be able to find Jamie? How can she leave behind her beloved daughter, knowing all too well they may never see each other again?

Drawn back across the chasm of time she seeks once more the man she could never forget, the destiny she cannot ignore.

DRUMS OF AUTUMN

Cast ashore in the New World, the Frasers intend to join the exiled Scottish Highlanders and start a new life away from the violence and uncertainty of a divided Scotland. Jamie is tired of conflict and, with his beloved Claire once more at his side, seeks refuge in the mountains - ever a sanctuary. But they arrive on the eve of the American War of Independence and become unwittingly involved in its turbulent events. It seems as if they will once more be denied a chance to find peace as they are caught up in the plight of the Iroquois and Indian tribes, who, like the Highlanders, are outsiders in their own land.

It is only when Brianna, safe in the future, decides to cross into the past in search of the father she has never seen, that Jamie learns again what he has always known: neither innocence nor isolation is a shield, and love is the only thing worth fighting for.

THROUGH THE STONES - The Comprehensive Companion Guide to the Outlander Series Novels.

I have read the Outlander Series twice and have found it to be a wonderful emotional reading experience which held me spellbound from beginning to end of every episode. Ms Gabaldon with her rare gift of 3 dimensional story telling has the amazing and brilliant ability to make her characters seem so real, that I somehow felt a special bond with Jamie and Claire as she took me deep into the pages I was reading. I could see and feel what was going on and Diana's descriptive methods of setting each scene gave me such vivid images of Edinburgh's narrow cobble-stone streets that long after putting her books down I was left daydreaming, imagining I was right there walking along those cobblestones and, later, seriously wondering what if................??

Diana is a phenomenal writer who speaks directly to my heart and sense of adventure! Never has an author taken me to such heights.

A truly remarkable, well-researched series of novels which I thoroughly recommend, but suggest that you buy, not borrow them as you will want to re-read them.....over and over.....and enjoy and treasure them forever.
