Blue Canary

-What is your profession?
-Professional fool
-Who can be a clown?
-Anyone and often unwillingly.
-Fool- is it mentality or diagnosis?
-It is the method not to do what you do not like to do…

From an interview with Slava Polunin

Three strange looking clowns with heart-rending voices are singing sentimental “Italian” song about gone childhood and lost blue canaries… They resemble the sort of clown trinity, the symbol of Anima Allegra (live soul) so often so venerable even endangered in this world.
In the eighties the St-Petersburg’s clown-mime theater “Litsedey”(Play-Makers) founded by Slava Polunin achieved almost universal affection. Adults, teenagers, and kids at kindergartens sang: “Blue canaries”… Streets of St-Petersburg provided background for magic shows, inspired by love.
Everything has changed since then, they traveling the world now with “Snow Show” and “Cirque Du Soleil”, but they still have got this joyful attitude and personality which more then anything else attracts audiences, and produce an emotional response.
And for me those sad clowns represent happiest part of my life, my Anima Allegra.
