USING ALTA VISTA OR GOOGLE FOR INTERNET SEARCHES
Alta Vista/GOOGLE is one of the search vehicles available through Netscape
via its home page. You can call up a choice page for selecting your
search vehicle by clicking the arrow on the SEARCH button in the tool bar
at the top of the Navigator or Communicator Page. Look for Alta Vista/GOOGLE
and click on it then look for the search box where you can fill in the
sort of information you are seeking. Whern you load a word, make
sure it is highly specific to the informat you seek and put a + sign in
front of it like this: My word is microcredit
so I feed in +microcredit to
the box and press ENTER or the search submit button and away we go.
This use of the + sign is extremely powerful. For more hints, look
at Alta Vista's HELP button.
Below is an example of how I have used this to get information on fisheries
in Australia. Try it, it works!
Australian Industry

Search
Alta Vista for a country's industry: Insert + then industry name, then
+country. EG: +fisheries +Australia - Click this to see result!!!
