COMMUNITY VISITORS
What
is the Community Visitors Scheme?
The Community
Visitors Scheme involves a volunteer regularly visiting a person
who lives in a residential aged care facility, offering companionship
and friendship. The Federal Government funds South West Do Care
to operate the scheme in Colac, Apollo Bay, Lorne and Winchelsea.
The Community Visitor Scheme aims to improve the quality of life
for residents who may have limited contact with others and may be
at risk of isolation from the community. Visitors are carefully
matched with a resident on a one-to-one basis.
