Do
Care has been providing friendly visitors for older people living
in their own homes for over 20 years. Each volunteer is trained
and matched to the needs of an older person who has been assessed
by our Liaison Officer. Volunteers visit each week for approximately
an hour to simply have a chat and provide regular company.
How can volunteers become involved?
Volunteers regularly spend time with one or more
people who are supported through our service. Volunteers share social,
leisure and recreation based activities such as:
One-to-one
companionship
Conversation
and interests
Local
outings (drives and walks)
Accompanying
a person to a group or activity
Volunteers
may also be involved with administration, publicity, promotion, mentoring
new volunteers and planned activity groups as friends of Do Care and
future service planning as Board members.
