Project Update

Most of the work in the first row of photo's below occurred through 1994, between then and 2002 the car sat in my shed with nothing happening to it. The next pages detail (in pictures) the work that has taken place since early 2002. Let me tell the world that it's better to label EVERYTHING and photograph it so you can remember how to put it back together.

After loading the Charger on a trailer and moving it to my new shed (The car was at my parents house for a while). I commenced disassembly. I found that this took longer than I thought, especially when 'bagging and tagging' everything! Things went on hold  whilst my lovely wife and I started a family. Once things settled down (and finances improved) I was inspired by Slick 6 Packs magazine to pick up the spanners and start work again. I started by smoothing the engine bay and rebuilding the front suspension and steering.

The removal of the front suspension allowed me to cut out and repair some rust in the chassis rail (a common valiant problem). The welding was done by a professional who could correctly repair the internal bracing. I then smoothed the engine bay (a very time consuming process) for that better than factory appearance. This involved the removal of unnecessary holes and the filing of all the factory spot welds, wrinkles and other marks. The final results were worth the work involved. A coat of hi-fill primer followed by a light sand and another coat or regular primer saw the engine bay ready for paint.
