At first glance this house seems quite simple,
being symbolic of earned income, sense of values, money,
possessions, and self-esteem.
On closer inspection there is a lot more
to think about once the reason for this symbolism is explored.
The first part we'll look at is 'sense of values and self-esteem'.
Using the Second House symbolism can help
you to define what you value. Although this comment doesn't
sound earth shattering, it is important as we explore what
this exactly means.
If you think about yourself - how you live
your life, what you teach your children and how you make
your decisions, your own sense of what you value begins
to get clearer. For example, if you had Venus in this house
you would probably value harmony, financial security and/or
possessions that bring you sensual pleasure.
To take this example further let's pretend
that you are in the situation of having to choose between
two jobs: one overseas that will keep you away from your
family (partner, 2yo and 10yo) for at least 6 months located
at the North Pole; OR a position that involves commuting
30 minutes every day, doesn't pay as well as the first position
but offers a pleasant working environment with family friendly
policy. You would be more likely to take the second position
rather than the first.
The first position would cause conflict for
several reasons: being apart from your own family, working
in an isolated situation, being in uncomfortable surroundings
and possibly unpleasant at times, and not being able to
enjoy the fruits of your labour.
The second position offers less money, but
this lower level of income is compensated for by the close
proximity of the job, a pleasant working environment that
allows time off for family matters and other flexible working
arrangements to suit family commitments.
Here we see how what you value and believe
in affects the amount of money that you earn. Now we'll
have a quick look at self-esteem.
Let's just say that you took the first job,
perhaps because of pressure from other people in your life
or fear of looking as though you weren't ambitious enough
or for any other reason - even though in your heart it wasn't
something you were happy about doing.
This situation would not be good for how you
felt about yourself because you would be violating what
you believe in and in turn eroding your self esteem.
But, if you had Uranus in your Second House
(the planet of the unusual, unorthodox, erratic) then you
most probably take the first job because it offers an unusual
opportunity, excitement and adventure. The second job offers
routine, everyday situations that would not reflect your
belief in defining your individuality through exploration
of the unusual side of life.
You are probably wondering what this has to
do with money and possessions by now.
As we have seen above, your sense of values
determines not only what you believe in and from there how
you will earn your income to reflect these. Naturally then
your financial situation will flow on from what you do to
earn money and how you handle it. In our above examples,
if you had Venus in the Second House then you would be more
likely to have a stable financial situation, if you had
Uranus in your Second House then you would probably swing
from one extreme to the other financially due to the type
of employment undertaken (erratic or unusual).

of your own Second House you can share them at my discussion
