The
TenthHouse
Prepared by Rose Glavas QA (FAA); QMBTI
As we move from the ninth house to the tenth
house symbolism we have the opportunity to put our beliefs
and knowledge to the test in our vocation and public life.
Our experiences so far, and our understanding of they fit
into the 'big picture' of the ninth house shapes where our
life will go from there.
The tenth house is traditionally associated
with parental, career, life direction, public image and
authority figures - what we aspire to or look up to. At
this stage there is some debate within astrological circles
regarding whether the tenth house represents the mother
or father. Personally, I haven't come to any solid conclusions
at this stage.
Another way to look at the meaning of this
house is to compare it to it's opposite - the fourth house.
The fourth house represents our most personal space, our
home, basically the place where we feel secure and don't
have to put up any 'appearances'. In the fourth house we
can dress in our sloppiest, holiest and most unattractive
- but most comfortable and loved clothes; in the tenth we
have to put on those uncomfortable suits that have been
ironed to perfection and wear those shoes that pinch our
toes!
Following on from the ninth house where 'Why
was I born?" was explored, the tenth house takes the reason
for being here and turns it into using this information
to forge a direction in life or finding your vocation.
Being opposite from the fourth where you
are at your most private, the tenth is also where your life
is at it's most public, so this is why the tenth house is
associated with your public image. Fourth house is what
we are... tenth house is what we aspire to be.
Let's look at an example, Sun in the tenth.
The Sun in the 10th House would suggest that your public
image would be very important to you, as would life outside
of the home. This is a powerful placement for any planet
because it is very prominent and easy seen in your life,
so the Sun here will have to find a way to express itself.
The Sun is associated with Leo, the sign of
creativity and fun so you could easily find yourself working
in a career with these themes involved, such as the entertainment
industry or in another creative field.
Where it comes to the parental relationship
it looks as though one parent in particular would have a
major impact on the choice of your career. Perhaps you will
follow in a parent's footsteps? One of the themes that will
remain consistent, regardless of how this energy is experienced,
is the need to feel as though you light up the world of
others when you step outside of your home. The need to shine
is important to you.
