Helen and Peter Eley commenced operating under the "Kellick" prefix in 1972, at that time breeding and showing Labrador Retrievers. In 1975 after purchasing a Flat Coated Retriever with the "Duffton" prefix from Mrs. Dorothy Sutch our adventure into the Flatcoat world began.  Through that we are the oldest established Flat Coated Retriever Kennel in Australia

The kennel quickly expanded with Mrs. Sutch withdrawing from the Flatcoat scene and her dogs Stonemeade Wild Rose (Imp UK) and Vanrose Black Knight (Imp NZ) moving to the "Kellick"  kennel.  Later a bitch, Branchalwood Fuaron (Imp UK) and in 2002 the importation of Black Mica's Totally Truant (Imp Swd) (son of the Gundog Group winner at Crufts 2003) beating nearly 5,000 gun dogs.

The latest import to Kellick is Boltiltorp Rhythm and Blues (Imp Swd) (Rythm).  Rhythm came to Australia in 2005, his sire and dam are amongst top winning dogs in Sweden and both are Field Trial Champions.  Rhythm has a promising career in the show ring and primarily competitive Retrieving.   We are dedicated to having Dual Purpose Flat Coated Retrievers, those that can work as they were developed to be in addition with the beauty to be able to compete in the show ring.

"Kellick" is dedicated to the improvement of the breed in Australia.  All stock is checked for Hips, eyes and elbows, and breeding is only carried out for the purpose of  breed improvement.

Helen and Peter Eley are active in all areas of competition except agility.  Conformation showing, Retrieving trials, Obedience trials, Endurance testing and a short dabble into tracking make up the range of canine activities undertaken.

No strings attached:  When you purchase a dog from "Kellick" the dog is YOURS. All dogs are sold freehold.

"Kellick" for soundness, type true to the standard, and more importantly, the promotion of the Flat Coated Retriever in Australia.
