I recently returned from my
scholarship to Paris, and was interviewed on SBS National Radio in French.
Listen in on the link below - I start speaking around 11 minutes into the
program. For those of you not wanting to listen to 20 minutes of another
language (!) I talk about my scholarship, the main differences I noticed at the Bibliothéque Nationale de France
with the State Library of Victoria; the importance of studying history;
the importance of opening state and national library doors to young people - and
hence, I discuss the future of libraries.

My short story, Four and
Twenty Blackbirds, a young adult story of suspense, and the scary things
that parents tell their children to make them behave, was published in SHORT, by
Black Dog Books. It's available in lots of bookstores, but you should probably
buy it from the Little Bookroom in Carlton, because they are really nice.
If you are fabulous enough to be a young person, you should tell your teacher to
buy a class set. That will help "Big Brothers, Big Sisters", because the profits
from this book, are going to them.

I recently went on a four week
research trip to the Northern Territory and the north of Western Australia,
gaining a sense of the locations where my current novel
will be set (the project text for completion of my Masters Degree). ...and
because every writer's dream is to be a travel writer, and write the whole thing
off on tax, I have also written some travel articles
about Ningaloo and Uluru, that will be published in a forthcoming Dorling
Kindersley UK publication, titled "Where to Go When."
