FAMILY PHOTOS
Dinner hasn't changed all that much though. You still tuck into the steak, which you have been doing since you were little more than a year old, sitting on my knee. And the potatoes. And the vegies, and the bread, and the sweets. And, and, and. Will it never stop!
Afterwards is a bit different too. Now, instead of my reading to you, as like as not you will read to me, or tell me about something you have read.fc
Or sometimes, and you have no idea how much I value those sometimes. you ask my advice on some problem you may have. Once you even asked me if Grandma and Grandad did something, and even though I haven’t forgotten what it was I will pretend that I did, so that you can grow further. I hope my comments helped you to solve your problems, but most of all I hope my comments helped you to learn how to solve your problems. There’s a secret few people manage to learn!
And bedtime is a bit different too. Instead of heading off, happy, you seem to want to have every extra second, to use and enjoy, sometimes until 2 am. Funny about that. Granddad used to tell me that tomorrow was another day, and I could finish whatever I was doing later. Do you suppose that’s inherited too?
You know, I haven't got one photograph of you over all of these passing years, except these pictures in my mind. Since I can't show them to you I thought perhaps you would like to see them as I see them.
And if, sometime in the far, far future, when you have children of your own, perhaps a son, perhaps a daughter, or even grandchildren, one day you will look at these pictures, and remember a day long, long ago, when the world was magic, and we could do anything.
