The places we include in our register are ruined and abandoned homes. |

During the mid to late 19th century there was a building boom in this region when land was allocated for agricultural purposes. | |
| When it became apparent that the land could not support so many people on such small parcels of land the settlers left the land and the homes they built. | |
For many reasons the homes fell into a poor state of repair and they are fast disappearing from the landscape. |

We are trying in some small way to record and preserve the heritage of these early settlers. | |
