| The seven Angels that stood before God in Revelations are
considered to be the Archangels. Although it is agreed that there were seven Archangels, there
has been some debate on who the seven were. Most accounts name Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and
Uriel, with the remaining three generally chosen from Metatron, Remiel, Sariel, Anael, Raguel and
Raziel. The Archangels were the divine messengers between the humans and God. Of the nine choirs
the Archangels are probably best known to us. They are the battlers of the Sons of Darkness. |
Archangel - MICHAEL
Michael is probably the best known of the Archangels. He was said to be God's champion and is
usually pictured with an unsheathed sword. He is credited with winning the first battle against
Satin, hurling him out of heaven. It is foretold that when the world is in trouble again, Michael
will return. Many scholars say that this will be the century for his return. |

Archangel - GABRIEL
Gabriel is the ruler of the Cherubim and the governor of Eden. Gabriel is most unique for being
the only female in the higher echelons. She is the ruler of the first heaven and therefore
closest to man. the Angel of truth, mercy, revelation and death. Some religions suggest that she
was once of the mortal world and that Adam and Eve were her first experiments in conception and
birth. Later she was granted supernatural powers. Gabriel is credited with the immaculate
conception of the Virgin Mary.

Archangel - RAPHAEL
Raphael is known as "the shining one that heals". He is the Ruler of the second heaven, Chief of
the Virtues, Guardian of the "Tree of life" and one of the seven Angels of the throne. He is
usually shown with a smile, a pleasant, happy Angel, officially a Virtue Angel, Raphael had six
wings like the Seraph, but also belonged to the Cherubim, the Dominions and the Powers. Raphael
is credited with giving the mysterious "Book of the Angel Raziel" to Noah, a book said to
possess the knowledge needed to build the Ark. Strangely he is also the guide of Sheol, or the
womb of the underworld. As a demon of earth he can manifest in a monstrous beast-form.

Archangel - SARIEL
Sariel was responsible for the fate of Angels who transgress the Laws. Sariel was also the Angel
of Death. It was claimed that Sariel was a healer like Raphael, a Seraphim and the Prince of
the Presence. Though not recorded in fact, it was stated by some that Sariel was in fact one of
the fallen rebel Angels.

Archangel - URIEL
Uriel was both a Seraphin and a Cherubim, and one of the four Angels of the Presence. He presides
over Tartarus (Hell). It is said that Uriel, the angel of God, brings forth the souls of sinners,
burns them in their dwelling places in everlasting fire and then punishes them eternally. This
Angel is a warning to all that the wrath of God can be mighty and that not everything in heaven
is sweet. It was also recorded that Uriel came to earth and became a man to make his presence
here known. This was the first recorded instance of an Angel becoming a man. Uriel is credited
with being the Angel with the sharpest eye. With this skill it is said that it was he who warned
Noah of the forthcoming floods that would destroy humankind.

Archangel - RAGUEL
Raguel is known as the "friend of God" and watches over the good behavior of the Angels. This was
a particularly difficult job as celestial beings are vulnerable to corruption. Ironically,
Raguel, along with Uriel, was cast from the Saintly calendar. Raguel leading a sort of celestial
witch hunt among the higher echelons was denounced as being a "demon" passing himself off as a
saint. In happier times Raguel was the angel that escorted Enoch to heaven and was the Angel of
earth and a guardian of the second heaven.

|
Archangel - RAZIEL
Raziel known as the "Angel of secret regions and of the Supreme Mysteries", author of the "Book
of the Angel Raziel that was presented to Noah, was also the chief of the Thrones. He proclaimed
to know all the secrets of mankind.
|
|
Archangel - REMIEL
Remiel known as the "Lord of souls awaiting resurrection" was said to be the Angel that God set
forth to bring souls to judgment. He is credited with the destruction of the armies of Sennacherib,
being the carrier of the instructions of the "Seven Archangels", and the one who presides over
"true vision". He was the leader of the Apostates and one of the fallen Angels.
|
|
Archangel - METATRON
Metatron, is considered by many to be the greatest Angel of all. He has been called Prince of
Divine Face, Angel of the Covenant and King of the Angels. He is the direct link between God and
humanity and is in charge of the sustenance of the world. He was also the heavenly scribe who
recorded all celestial happenings. On the darker side Metatron is mentioned in Exodus as being
identified with Satan. A strange figure, on one hand Metatron is set above Michael and Gabriel
as being able to defeat wizards, while on the other hand he is depicted as bloodthirsty,
delighting in torturing disobedient people.
