Here are some of my memorable XC flights

In November 1999 I had a nice flight of just under 100km's from Mount Lonarch. This was quite memorable for a few reasons, as 1 of my earlier XC flights, it was my first flight from this site, and Kevin, Mal & myself all landed in the same paddock (after hitting a quite strong sea breeze).

In the summer of the 2000 / 2001 season, Mal, Andrew Wicks & myself had a nice flight from Buffalo. Andrew W landed out near Milawa, but Mal & myself managed to get back up over Milawa and nearly made it back, landing near Ovens.

For the 2002 / 2003 season I decided to by my first new glider;

  • I test flew a new C2-14 (mylar version) at Dynamic Flight Park. After being convinced to chase the pilots that had headed off, I flew a 114km flight (85km out & 29km return). (map of flight)
  • I than purchased it's dacron little brother (C2-13Lite) and competed in the Australian Championships in Deni. (see report) ???

The 2003 / 2004 season was good to me;

  • In November 2003 was the "Holiday of a Lifetime at Birchip (aka Flatlands XC encampment)". Here I has 2 100mile flights. (see report)
  • In January 2004 I competed in the "Hay Australia Open & Pre-World Hang Gliding Championships". (see report)
At the Birchip Easter comp in 2005 I made goal on day 4. (see tracklog)

The 2006 / 2007 flying season had some new flights for me;

  • At the Birchip Easter comp in 2006 I again made goal on the last day. (see report)
  • Over the summer Bright trip I nearly got out to Benalla (from Mystic). (see report)

The 2007 / 2008 flying season was pretty good to me;

  • The spring flying started early, with some nice flights from Landscape & Three Sisters. (see report)
  • On the Melbourne Cup Long weekend trip to Bright I flew 153km from Mystic to Cobram. (see report)
  • Then I spent a further 3 weeks at Bright over the post Christmas period. (see report)

The 2008 / 2009 season;

  • No really long flights, but quite a few at various different sites & areas. (see tracks here)
