From the early age of 8 Helena Milonas has been creative in many aspects. Helena first expressed her creativity by knitting, which led her to develop an interest in dressmaking. At the age of 14 Helena was attending dressmaking classes and by the age of 15 her wardrobe consisted entirely of garments designed and made by her.
Helena eventually developed a desire to share her creativity and skill with an audience and started creating pieces styled individually for her family and friends…and so her creative journey began...
Helena studied at the Melbourne College of textiles where she fine tuned her
skills and techniques. Her creativity continued to be nurtured by her travelling
adventures through Europe. The inspiration taken from her travels still influence her style and are evident in her ranges today.
Helena was first appointed as a designer by Anderson where she designed gym and swimwear. Her second appointment was with Passport International where she created
elegant evening wear.
Keen to keep herself in touch with the up and coming designers Helena managed the innovative Young Designers Gallery in Richmond. Helena then
worked with the hugely successful Sportsgirl Group in the 1990’s, in the buying
office.
Following Helena’s success in the clothing industry, she decided to embark on a journey to re-define her creative skills and she became Robert Gill’s pupil where a heavy emphasis was placed on
the art of design.
It was a few years later when Helena maintained an office within the building of Simone Perele and Finelines beginnings (Maylar) and was educated on the art of intimate apparel by Ron Lukav and his staff. In 1998 Helena and her brother George started their own company Helena George until customer demand forced them towards a retail path. Meanwhile continuing to have growth in their wholesale business.
