Fraser Island is located 3.5 hours drive north of Brisbane. Stretching over 123 km in length and rising to a height of 244 meters. Fraser Island the largest sand Island in the world. The Island contains many freshwater lake systems and rivers where the water is held on top of a impervious layer of compressed sand.

Fraser Island was listed on the world heritage in 1992 for its outstanding natural features.

Our Kayak journey followed the Island via Sandy Strait from Boonooroo to Wathumba, returning to Torquay after 8 days. The most difficult part of our journey was returning home.
