![]() After our portage over the weir, we arrived at the Billabong. This area had not changed much in 15 years other than a heavier growth of water plants and grasses encroaching on this prime habitat for many bird species. |
![]() Determined to get to the rain forest and waterfall it was hard to locate the main flow into the area. |
![]() A great place of beauty with many small rainforest dwelling birds. |
![]() Not a great deal of water flowing. |
![]() Time to get out and walk Paul. I was looking for an old grave stone that I had found up this valley 15 years ago. I remembered it was dated back in the late 1800's and the name on the stone was Mary? or such. |
![]() Well this had to be the place where it layed. It was gone! and by the look of the dead grass only just taken recently. I remember this stone being very heavy when I stood it upright so long ago. So how was it removed? We searched around and found some pink ribbons tied to the trees, these we followed back to a bush track. So who's got it? more to the point who would want to remove a headstone? |
![]() We continued on up the river. |
![]() A tricky portage across the tree. The water was deep and meant getting out of the Kayak onto the tree.. lift it over and get back in the other side. |
