The ships log:

Tallowa Dam February 2004.

I had been to this place on a solo paddle some time before and was blown away by such rugged scenery. On my return some time later, our small group headed upstream but could only manage 11 km as the dam was in short supply. So it was up with the tents early and just a layback day either laying in the shade or immersed in the water. We met a few Kayaker/bush walkers on route and then only realised what a popular spot this is with the arrival of around 15 double canoes. We were somewhat lucky to have picked the best campsite early in the day.

On our return to the Dam there was a school bus and a truck load of canoes ready to depart. So its not such a big secret as I first thought. Seems the midweek paddle may be the best option for this area.
