Building with Foam

Hopefully, soon I'll get around to completing this article. In the meantime - here are some pictures of my Spitfire - built from foam.

A popular method of covering is to use brown paper - but instead I found a book with numerous plan views (about 75 mm / 3 inches across - and photo enlarged it to a model 1200mm (4 foot) across. I used the photocopied paper and used "sample pots" of paint from the local paint shop.

I made the lettering and roundels on the computer and then copied them at my local Officeworks store - and stuck them on with PVA.

Canopy was as per the PET Noses article in the OTHER ARTICLES section of this site.

The result looked great.
