'Sydney Singer Janet Seidel has cast her net wide into the easy listening market with this album of American and French standards with a Gallic accent.
She is in the tradition of singers who might not improvise much but sing good songs with a strong jazz flavour.
Singing in both French and English, she is in fine form, her warm voice subtly adding so much to the lyrics that it's easy to lay back and let the music wash over you.
The opening track 'And the Angels sing' sets the standard for a disc whose best moments are 'The Windmills of your mind' a moving 'l'éte 42' (the summer of 42) and 'J'attendrai'.
Pianist Kevin Hunt backs her admirably. His playing is a source of enjoyment as is the smooth tenor and Paul Desmond inspired alto of Bob Jeffery.
