Colloid and Surface Science Division of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute

Colloid Science is the study of material dispersions which rely on molecular and nano-scale phenomena to impart key properties. Such colloidal phenomena, which include adsorption, aggregation and self assembly, are dictated by surface interactions. Colloid and surface science are thus inextricably related, and are enabling disciplines for global industries, including minerals processing, water treatment and pharmaceutical formulation. They are also key ingredients for the so-called 'nanotechnology revolution'.

The Colloid and Surface Science Division (CSSD) was founded by Bob Hunter (University of Sydney) and Tom Healy (University of Melbourne) to act as a focal point for Australian Academic, Government and Industrial researchers working in this area. The Australian Colloid and Surface Science community has grown and prospered under the stewardship of its founding fathers. It is recognized as a valuable hub of science in the international colloid and surface science arena.

The current committee of the CSSD welcomes you to this homepage and invites you to engage in our current activities, peruse our history, or explore vacancies for postdoctoral or PhD positions within our community.
