General visa information

A visa or travel authority is permission or authority granted by Australia for foreign nationals to travel to Australia. All travellers, except New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or travel authority before travelling to Australia.
A visa will be a stamp or label in a passport; a travel authority is an electronic record authorising travel into Australia.

Summary of Visa information

For delegates from (Nationality) Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan (ETA Nationals).

Electronic Travel Authorities (ETA) can be obtained through participating airlines and travel agents when booking airline tickets. These are usually valid for visits of up to 3 months and require the payment of a fee.

An ETA can also be obtained individually online. The website is in English and Japanese.

For delegates from other countries (non-ETA nationals)
Visas can be obtained from Australian missions overseas. There is an application form to fill in (Form 456) and a fee to pay on application.
These visa applications are subject to some scrutiny as non-ETA nationals are statistically at a higher risk of overstaying or not abiding by visa conditions or of seeking to remain permanently in Australia. Therefore you will be expected to provide adequate documentation about your background, financial situation and other details. We can help facilitate the award of a visa so please contact us before applying for your visa and we will provide you with information on where to apply for your visa and with documentation that should assist your application.

Travel Arrangements

A bus will be made available to transport conference delegates to and from Sydney.

We will have a bus leave Sydney Airport (Mascot), International Terminal at 2pm on Sunday the 27th, stopping at the domestic terminal and at one location in the city – the Mercure hotel on George st, near central railway station. This should be suitable for international flights arriving before noon on the Sunday. If the flight you are taking is scheduled to arrive after noon we recommend that you arrive the day beforehand. For those arriving in Sydney prior to the 27th or intending to stay in Sydney afterwards, the 4 star Mercure Hotel in Sydney is offering discounted accommodation for conference delegates. Download the booking form with the accommodation rates in pdf or word format. The bus will pick-up at the Mercure Hotel (on Little Regent street), which is located near central railway station. The bus will arrive at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal between 4pm and 5 pm.

Following the conference, a bus will depart Terrigal on Wednesday the 30th of November at 5.00 pm for Sydney. The bus will stop at the Mercure hotel in the city, the International terminal (approximately 7.30 pm) and the domestic terminal (approx 8.00 pm). This bus should be suitable for those departing on international or domestic flights after 9:30pm on Wednesday the 30th November. For those wishing to stay in Sydney or linking to other transport, the Mercure hotel is offering discounted accommodation for conference delegates (see above) and is located conveniently near central railway station.

Registered international delegates will be asked to provide Sydney arrival and departure details by early November so that the transfer to Terrigal can be organized. Registered Australian delegates are encouraged to use the bus provided if traveling from or through Sydney. The bus fee will be $25 each way and can be paid for at the time of registering. Alternative Travel Arrangements - Train

Sydney Central railway station can be reached using the airport link.

It is possible to then travel from Sydney Central railway station to Gosford railway station on the Newcastle Line. Gosford is approximately 11km from Terrigal. A shuttle bus will be available for transport from Gosford station to the venue at Terrigal at certain times. Outside of these times it is possible to travel by taxi (estimated cost).

Please note: if arriving by train that it is cheaper to buy a single train ticket Sydney Airport-Gosford than separate Sydney Airport-Central + Central-Gosford tickets.

Accommodation

We recommend that all international guests stay at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal, during the conference. Please use the Crowne Plaza booking form which can be downloaded here in pdf or word format. We recommend that delegates and accompanying spouses use this form to book accommodation.

Accommodation in Sydney

Discounted accommodation will be available for conference delegates prior to and after the conference in Sydney at the Mercure Sydney Hotel (4 star). If you wish to stay at the hotel or would like to see the discounted rates we have prepared a booking form for you to use. This will enable you to receive the discount and make booking easy.
