1 List some facts from the film for your facts and figures page.
2 How were the steel plates of the ships hull held together compared with now?
3 What do you notice about the people portrayed in this time and placement on the ship?.
4 What and why the disaster happened?
5 What did they try to do to avoid the disaster?
6 What part of the ship was damaged?
7 What were some of the problems people on board now faced?
8 What were the morse code signals the radio operators used?
9 Which ship was believed to be closest and which ship came to the rescue?
10 Write some summary comments about the film, include a rating and compare with ‘Titanic’ if you have seen it.
View video ‘Titanic Science’ and answer the following, try to use diagrams where possible to assist your answer.…..make rough notes/sketches on scrap paper during the video..
1] It was thought that the steel of the time was inferior to the steel made today and maybe in the extreme cold it was brittle and a jagged gash was made in the collision with the iceberg. What do we know now?
2] Why did the Titanic break up, what turned out to be the strongest part and why did the first funnel collapse?.
3] What is the latest evidence which means the sinking depicted in the latest film is wrong?
4] What is going to happen to the wreck of the Titanic? Give reasons….
