Skies Rattery
Welcome To September
Skies
September Skies was a
rattery based in Tasmania, (Australia). We were a small scale rattery, breeding
carefully selected does and bucks for pups with loving, friendly temperaments
and excellent health. Sadly, due to ill-health and pregnancy, I have not been
able to continue breeding my beloved rats, but I have left the pictures of them
here for you to look at if you wish. They were my darlings.
Meet the Family
Here you can meet my furry family! Sadly, I no longer own
rats, so these are my past and very well-loved rats.

Dove mis-marked hooded semi-longhair buck.
Bred by Julie of The Mad Ratter Rattery, Vic.
Out
of Lightening (dove hooded doe) and Shaggy (Topaz Berkshire
buck)
Born: 8th March 2004 Jasper is a big, fat,
handsome, gentle boy!
He's huge, as he comes from big lines, and he was one in a
litter of only four, so he got a good head start! He's my fat
squishy man ;-) We had trouble taking a picture of him out of his
customary position - eating! I love him to bits.
Jasper is my dear,
squishy little mountain! He really loves a good scritching, and nibbles
and grooms us back! He's gentle and quiet, exactly what I'm looking for
in a rat. I love his pinker-than-pink
ears! And his dark ruby eyes give his face a lovely soft look. He's my
sweetheart :-)

Black, spotted, DownUnder, hooded buck,
with a partial blaze
Bred by Bronwyn of Brats-Tails Rattery.
Out
of Domino (dove, DU, variegated hooded doe) and Babe
(black, DU, spotted hooded buck).
Born: 30th January 2004 (now 8 months old) Prizes:
2nd for Variegated, in the AusRFS Victoria Social Show, 24th April '04! Jesse is a really
lively, interested boy, he has the cutest DownUnder belly, and lovely
spotting. He's had some gorgeous babies! Being a DU, he is smaller than
most male rats, more like a large adult female in size, but quite stocky
and starting to fill out. It's really nice :-) He's a
gentleman with the ladies, and very good with humans too! He has really
softened into a very gentle, alert and friendly rat. He's wonderful, I love him!

:-)

Cinnamon Berkshire doe
Bred by Natahl of
Roving Sweethearts Rattery.
Out of Custard (cinnamon Berkshire doe) and Inman (mink
Berkshire buck),
Born: 12th of May 2004. (Currently 5 months old)
Emma is a sweetheart! She loves to sit on my
shoulder, under my hair :-) She's such a beautiful colour, I had
never seen cinnamon before, it's gorgeous! She's bruxing on my shoulder
right now! She's very busy, confident and into everything! Her coat colour
as it comes through is really beautiful :-) She's very much
like her mum, I think, as Custard is really outgoing and the alpha rat in
her household. Emmalise has certainly grown into a very big, well
muscled girl!

What a pretty girl :-)

Black hooded doe, with a white chin spot "Just" a
pet shop rat ;-)
Born: Approx. 20th March 2004 (now 7 months old)
Although Neena was originally bought from a pet shop, I really have
found her to be the most loving and gentle young lady, and I believe
she has proved herself many times over. I therefore decided to breed her
to Jesse, and you can read about her pregnancy here
:-)
She found me in a pet store, I walked past and she caught my eye
and smiled! I was won over in a moment of weakness that I'll never regret.
She is such a wonderful and loving young girl, she likes to fall asleep in
my jumper, and wrestle with me when she's frisky! And what beautiful,
loving eyes! She has even inspired me to poetry
;-) She's been coming to school with me for biology lessons,
and the kids love her. She's surprisingly tolerant for a young girl! I held her brothers and sisters in
the shop, and they were all as quiet and lovely as she was, and her
brothers were gentle and big and soft! I really wanted to take them all
home! She's now living a life of complete luxury as a snuggle-rat with
Tracy and her assorted furry friends.

The
little Neena - maleena going to sleep on the bookcase!
I
like the way she's fallen asleep on the "Feral Futures" book!
