Our Alana is very special - not because she is an 'albino' but because she (like every child) has such a unique little personality. Albinism is just a small part of who she is and why she is so very special.
Alana is a very intelligent and extremely determined little girl. She has a beautiful, happy nature but is almost totally fearless and is not phased by obstacles or setbacks. Her developmental milestones are right up with average for everything except her vision, obviously, but she definitely makes fantastic use of what vision she does have.
Alana's hearing seems exceptionally good and she is very adept at tracking noises throughout the house.
Alana looks such a gentle little girl, which she is, but she is also very strong and determined (maybe stubborn like her mother is a more accurate description) and so her delicate appearance belies her true abilities. She is very patient for a child of her age and becomes very focused on what she is after and how to get it.
Like all of our family, Alana loves to have fun and she likes to be around people, making them laugh.
I believe Alana has the perfect attitude to make the most of what she has and use her strengths to overcome any obstacles that will come her way as she tackles life's journey. I have been taught so much already by Alana's beautiful spirit and determination and I look forward to her future unfolding in front of us as she grows into the amazingly special person I know she will become.
Alana is very special indeed.
