The pre 1986 leaded 1.8 JD Camira's used the LE Jetronic ECU and a seperate ignition control unit. The bosch
Jetronic range is used on many vehicles from various manufacturers, VW, BMW, Opel and Volvo are a few. The
prefix 'L', 'LE', 'D' etc. is a code that indicates the type of air sensing device used. The 'LE" prefix
in the Camira ECU stands for vane type air flow sensor input.
The signal to the ECU is provided from a variable resistor that is activated by a flap in the air input duct.
The only connection between the ignition and fuel systems is a pickup from the negative side of the coil. This
makes the wiring involved much simpler than most other ECU's.
