JD Camira Bosch Multipoint Injection

The pre 1986 leaded 1.8 JD Camira's used the LE Jetronic ECU and a seperate ignition control unit. The bosch Jetronic range is used on many vehicles from various manufacturers, VW, BMW, Opel and Volvo are a few. The prefix 'L', 'LE', 'D' etc. is a code that indicates the type of air sensing device used. The 'LE" prefix in the Camira ECU stands for vane type air flow sensor input.

The signal to the ECU is provided from a variable resistor that is activated by a flap in the air input duct. The only connection between the ignition and fuel systems is a pickup from the negative side of the coil. This makes the wiring involved much simpler than most other ECU's.

Adjusting the spring pressure on the air meter flap will alter the fuel ratio with little effort and some simple resisters can produce significant alterations.

The best resource for tuning and identifying Jetronic components/ECU's I have located is www.opeltuners.com. With detailed information on every component and how to tune the fuel ratio check it out before you get in too deep.

The electrical schematic below shows the connections required for the system to operate. This is redrawn from the electrical diagram in the Haynes manual in a viewable size. This diagram is questionable it shows all injectors on 1 signal line and common power supply wher in the EFI section they claim the injectors are connected in pairs?

When time permits I will add pin-out numbers and confirm all of the connections with the loom.
