There has been a long running thread on MacNN about using a Powerbook as an MP3 player. Personally, I want to use my Powerbook as a car jukebox, so the following is a solution that has worked for me.

The latest thing I have been playing with is Apple's Speakable Items Technology. While quite fun, it didn't actually seem very useful at first. That was until I started writing some applescript to work with Internet Explorer.

Turns out that IE is quite scriptable, and as a bonus it can also execute any javascript you put in. As a result I've come up with the following commads that can be used with IE and Speakable Items.

  • back and forward
  • next window and previous windows
  • print
  • reload
  • scroll down scroll up
  • exit explorer
