The Jewish Cultural Centre and National Library “Kadimah” was the recipient of a “Victoria’s Multicultural Award for Excellence”, at a ceremony at Government House, on 15th December 2008.  The award was presented by the Premier of Victoria John Brumby (1st picture R) and was accepted on behalf of the “Kadimah” by President Alex Dafner (L).  Earlier in the year the organisation was selected City of Glen Eira's Community Group of the Year  at the Australia Day 25th January 2008 breakfast ceremony held at the Glen Eira Town Hall.  In the centre shot, pictured amongst other recipients of awards and the Mayor of Glen Eira are: Abraham Goldberg (1st Left), Mayor CR Steven Tang (3rd Right), Cesia Goldberg (1st Right) and Asia Guttman (2nd Right).  A large number of "Kadimah" volunteers were also awarded certificates for their contribution to the community at the City of Glen Eira ceremony on the 15th May 2008.  Pictured on the right are three of the "Kadimah" volunteers who received awards: Naomi Jacobson-Treasurer (1st Left), Alex Dafner-President (centre) and Rachel Kalman OAM-Vice President and Library Coordinator (1st Right)

Wednesday Club at the "Kadimah" - "דער מיטװאָך קלוב בײַ דער "קדימה

During any year, the "Kadimah" conducts and hosts many cultural activities, including some  with overseas guests and artists.  These cultural events include concerts, lectures, film viewings, readings, commemorations, a family Sofvokh and weekly Wednesday Clubs for senior members of the community.
