Ten MacBUG members set out for the ride, one slept in (you know who you are). Five caught the 4.57am train from Campbelltown to Central, then the train to North Sydney. The views were something else crossing the harbour bridge with the sun fully up and the forecast warmth already being felt. It was cool at St Leonards Park and we definitely weren't the first to arrive. There was no shops open and the urge for a coffee sent Robin to the newly arrived coffee van. Back she came with one for me too. Last year it rained at the start but this year was perfect. We were in the second packet to leave with Chris, Brian, Deb, Robin and myself managing to stay together. Chris put his foot down and managed to get a good photograph of Deb and Robin as they started across the bridge. At the centre of the bridge we all stopped and one of the volunteers took two great shots of us, Thank You whoever you are. By this time we had lost Peter and Bill. We caught up with Bill at Homebush Bay but didn't see Peter again. The temperature could be felt as we approached Concord and stopped for a couple of minutes. Brian and Chris appeared to keep on going so we followed them not knowing that they had stopped for a decent break. Brian had a collision with a child trailer, the rider cuttting him off causing Brian to fall over the trailer, he was lucky. Brians bike was damaged but he managed to make it to Homebush Bay with limited use of his gears. We met up with Brian and Chris at Homebush Bay. Suzanne and Barbara had arranged to meet us as we crossed the finish line but they were there to early, maybe we were there to late! Fantastic Day! Love It! Well done Bicycle NSW, Police and volunteers.
