1962 - 1996 The Career and Credentials of Mr John Gullick C.S.T.D. (fellow O.T.) S.A.T.D. (NSW) A.A.D.S. S.D.A.A. as written by his wife Mrs Joy Gullick C.S.T.D. S.A.T.D. (NSW) A.A.D.S. S.D.A.A. The following was first printed in 1984 As we have spent all our amateur competitive years and from 1962 our professional years, dancing in public ballrooms - teaching and examining - adjudicating and originating new dances, the new comer to the ballroom may like to know my husband's career and credentials. He is a fellow of the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance (O.T.) being on the executive and old time branch committees for many years. Also for some time as Chairman of the Examiners Board. Is the holder of three (3) Victorian State titles, twice (2) Australasian titles holder (O.T) (undefeated) Winner with the first entry as amateurs for new dance competition held by the Commonwealth society with our "Joyette", beating many other entries including the "Melba Blues". Although originating nine (9) more dances only one of these entered in a new dance competition, namely the "Gaiety Waltz" being beaten by the "Saunter Caprice". He was a member of the Board of Control, registered as an examiner and adjudicator, also for many years a member of the Standardisation Board for standardising and scripting old time dances, also an executive member of Star Dancing Society. Along with this we have originated in all fourteen (14) totally new old time dances. In doing so, many new innovated movements have been made up so that each dance was a totally new dance and in no way a rearrangement of other old time dance. They have proved to be the most popular dances being danced in ballrooms through-out Australia. They are about to be demonstrated and taught in English ballrooms by one of our professionals now visiting over seas. Commencing in 1962, with our winning dance "Joyette", we followed this up with, Lealda Waltz, elite Two Step, Gaiety Waltz, Carousel, Tango Espana, Ja Cober Blues, Le Gaye Waltz, Camara Sway, Waltz Petite, Rainbow Waltz, Barderelle, Taurmay and our most recent dance, Gretona Waltz. Most of these dances were created by request from various ballrooms and dance clubs. We trust you will learn from our correct scripts enabling the average dancer to dance the dances correctly to the correct beats to the bars of music being played for the dances originated by us All the Gullick dances were scripted by Mr & Mrs Gullick and the Victorian Standardisation Board Jack and Joy are past members of: Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing Society of Australian Teachers of Dancing (NSW) Associated Australian Dance Society Star Dancing Society of Australia Australian Dancing Board of Control Registered as Examiners and Adjudicators |
