HOW IT ALL STARTED
Back
in 1993, Kay and I at the insistence of Ron & Marie Toward, decided
(with a bit of pushing and their help) to produce a videotape of Sequence
Ballroom Dances, which Ron and Marie assured us would sell.
At
the time we were very involved with the Combined Old Time Dance Clubs of
Victoria and the running by them of an annual charity dance at Elmore in
Central Victoria where the proceeds of each dance went to the Anti Cancer
Council of Victoria.
Kay
and are just social dancers, not trained in anyway and we were naturally
reluctant. Anyway the tape got made and then we had to have a name for it.
At the time Joy and Charles Montrose were dancing with our group and
unfortunately Joy had been fighting cancer for some 10 or 11 years, and
even after suffering almost an annual trip to hospital for operations,
"Little Joy" as she became known, was still a vibrant, active,
bubbly lady with and enormous zest for life and a fighting spirit that was
second to none. Joy was an inspiration to many others in our group who
were unfortunate to have contracted some form of this insidious disease.
Joy
was everybody's friend but above all she was a Lady with the biggest heart
I have ever seen.
By
early 1993 it was apparent that Joy was losing the battle against her long
time foe and so we decided it was fitting that we should name the tape
"Dancing For Joy" and that all the profits would go to the Anti
Cancer Council Of Victoria in their fight against cancer.
We
presented the first copy to Joy prior the release on December 09, 1993 and
on the 17th of March 1994, Joy left all the pain behind.
1700
copies and 8 years later we have remastered "Dancing For
Joy" and released a further eight DVD's of Sequence
Ballroom Dancing,
Our
sincere thanks and gratitude goes to all those who have supported and
continue to support us.
Thank
you and God bless each and everyone on you.
