Interviews,Reviews & Rants Logged Off Logs Off - 31/10/2004 After 4 years of Logged Off and almost 10 years of reviewing, Geoff Parkes and Logged Off log off for one final time with a blitzkrieg of reviews and interviews. Sex rules and sells supreme in the books section as we look at Marty Beckerman's teenage sluts, Patrick Califia's S&M vamps, and Dodie Bellamy's pretty perversions. In music, we interrogate the last look at the lost The Sidewalk Regrets, we interview Kervin and bless the gods of Dios Malos. To find out more about why Logged Off is ending, read this. Logged Off will remain as an archive of reviews and interviews and as the site for news of the writings of Geoff Parkes and his academic work. Thank you to everyone who has supported my work and this project. Goodbye, farewell, amen. If you want more, BUY MY BOOK! Keep reading those names people, past Margaret Cho and Dorothy Allison and and and... On JASBR only you can read my review of Victoria Leathem's Bloodletting, a book dealing with self harm (cutting) and recovery. Browse the archives - we've talked to the Strokes, sneered at Superjesus, checked out Germaine Greer's boys and been a unique critical voice on the Australian music and literature scene. Managed by author and former national literary critic Geoff Parkes, Logged Off presented a refreshing yet serious view of material generally outside the mainstream. Logged Off's reviews have appeared in press materials, promo ads and websites for bands, authors and other madmen across the continents, and it's because of our refusal to play the corporate cocksucking PR fame game made famous by other publications and websites claiming to be independent. Apart from Logged Off, Geoff was the literary critic for Bent Magazine. He reviewed for the US based DOA and continues to write occasionally for the Journal of Australian Studies Book Review (JASBR). He regularly writes for other independent media including Bizoo and has 10 years of writing and editorial experience. Click here for more details.
