form study involves an in-depth analysis of times for all NSW metropolitan and
provincial meetings and barrier trials. An example follows:

The
figure in brackets in the class column is prizemoney in thousands. Figures
underlined and in bold indicate the fastest overall, last 600 or early
sectional for a particular distance on the day while the columns to the right
of those highlighted in blue indicate differences between races of the same
distance. “sdiff” represents a comparison of early sectionals with 0.00 being
the fastest, and these figures are used to judge the early pace. “class” is a
numerical rating used to adjust the “final” time rating with 0.00 representing
the best time on the day. “turns” is an adjustment in seconds which may be
applied to “final” to allow for the track configuration. (E)lectronic or
(M)anual timing is indicated in the right-most column.

The above
example is an analysis of Rosehill barrier trials on October 12. “adiff”
represents adjusted times after sectionals are taken into account, with 0.00
being the fastest adjusted time on the day.
