Australian
Artist - Margaret Upton
Margaret Upton is an observer to daily life, this can be seen throughout all her acrylic artworks.
Having lived in Canada and Papua New Guinea and basically, a Sydney girl until moving
to tropical Cairns 30 years ago. This path through a busy
life in a variety of these locations, was enriched by the
influences of climate, lifestyles, and the people with whom
I observe and share.
My art works are the evoloution of an idea,
which part take in a journey of change that often evolves into
other forms. Often the final result has no relationship
to the original image. Yet, the work reveals the spirit of my original idea. My strong colourful backgrounds often
change to absorb the primary figure to the point of just
a human presence.
Acrylic polymer paint is my medium
of choice, as this allows you to be so creative. The flexibility of this art medium is so forgiving
and can be explored and researched in its range of application.
The current acrylic art work is strongly influenced
by the social and cultural interpretations of a dying breed,
these characters and people who have made Australia. My paintings
are enthusiastically supported, many of which are now hanging
in private collections globally.
