I am standing as an Independent Candidate for the Senate on a platform for Social, Environmental and Economic Justice. Our society needs to find innovative ways to live sustainably and protect the environment, and in the Senate I would be able to facilitate positive change. I am determined to reduce poverty and homelessness. I believe the changes to IR laws and welfare are unjust, unfair, unethical and require serious attention. Having worked in the Solar industry for more than 8 years, I believe that reducing Australia’s carbon footprint can be achieved with safe renewable energy, tax incentives, and energy efficiency. Importantly, I am against the use of nuclear power.
We have an ethical obligation to future generations to act as guardians of their future, and therefore leaving them with a toxic waste dump is totally unacceptable. On issues of health I am disgusted that many people in the community are suffering health-related issues due to financial concerns, lack of doctors or extensive waiting lists. I believe a healthy community is more willing and able to participate in the rigours of everyday life. Therefore, Medicare needs to be maintained, free dental care needs to be re-introduced, and waiting lists need to be cut. Services and support for individuals with mental health problems need to be increased.
… a voice that will advocate on behalf of the planet …
A large percentage of individuals who are concerned about climate change believe that we have a limited time of between 10 and 15 years to act. I believe that I can offer a strong voice to the parliament, a voice that will advocate on behalf of the planet, its people, and all other life forms.
Being an independent candidate allows me the freedom to speak my mind, follow ethical guidelines, and negotiate across the parliament to find the best solutions and practices. The current situation we find ourselves in requires more time to be spent on finding solutions—and less time debating each other in the battle of egos, beating chests, and other bullying behaviour. We need to pull together the best minds and hearts to work cooperatively to bring about just, ethical, and sustainable solutions. To this end, I would promote putting our ideological, religious, and political differences aside, and work together for the protection of the planet, and all life forms.
